So either I’m only cool because I hang out with Ben, or Ben is only cool because he hangs out with me. Hmmm.
I’d say we’re each cool in our own right… OR, more likely, we’re both extremely weird people who only seem cool through Tumblr. Yup, I’m gonna go with that one.
As for “what it’s like to hang out with an Internet celebrity,”...
The double date
Oh hey! It’s Ben and Brooke.
We hit up Lunchbox Laboratory in Seattle for burgers and milkshakes. Ben’s about to run a marathon, so he needs the calories. Brooke, Aaron and I… well, we have no excuse. Yummm!
Fact: Ben is really terrible at Catch Phrase (and don’t let him tell you otherwise). The girls totally dominated tonight.
He is good at chugging Coke. Brooke...
Track run
Three slightly painful, disappointing miles in 29:44. I ate too much sugar (and too much in general) today and I could feel myself dragging from it. My bad.
Dear right shin: I’m not impressed with you. Quit being such a jerk.
Off to watch The Office. Farewell, Michael Scott! Here’s to better miles on Saturday!!
Wheee!
Today was quarterly bonus day at work. My job is pretty fast-paced and stressful, but Christmas comes four times a year and makes it all worth it. I squirrel (most of) my loot away in savings like a good girl, but I might treat myself to some running swag : D
It’s sprinkling outside, but I’m gonna return to the local track and get a nice run in tonight.
Tomorrow night is a...
The stress-free, injury-free training plan of joy...
I’m currently making all this happen for dinner. Making my own veggie-based pasta sauce with some beans for protein. I have no idea what I’m doing, but that’s the fun! Choose your own adventure!
Anyway, I’ve decided to train for my half-marathon at my own pace and not get stressed out (i.e. have a panic attack) by putting too much pressure on myself to follow the...
Kickass run last night!
I finally went to a Tuesday-night track workout with the DetermiNation team. I haven’t been to a single one since I joined the team because:
I’ve been too intimidated. I’ve been too lazy. I’ve felt too behind the group because I’ve been too intimidated and too lazy to train with them.
B.S., I know. I finally went and it was AWESOME. I realized how much I...
Anonymous asked: Maybe this is a Tumblr thing, but I have a Wordpress blog and can't comment on your posts. You're a hysterical blogger, would love to be able to leave a comment once in a while!

Unofficial vs. official 10K photos
Unofficial: “I’m having an awesome time! Just out for a leisurely jaunt!”
Official: “I’m having an awful time! How many miles left??”
Unofficial: “I’m laughing so hard I could cry sweet tears of rainbow-joy!”
Official: “I’m running so hard I could puke… or pee… or die!”
Unofficial: “I did it for...
Much respect!
It’s maybe 60 degrees in Seattle, not a cloud in the sky. I’m SWEATING BUCKETS after 3 miles in just under 30 minutes. How do all y’all in the Dirty South survive??
I’m going to need to start planning some wicked running tan lines.
Sad Leg Saturday
Let me start by saying that I’ve always had bigger, more muscular calves than most of my friends. As a baby, my parents said I had “tree-stump legs.” All my life, shoe salesmen and women asked me if I was a soccer player (no) because of my legs.
As a result, I was always afraid to jump into the knee-high leather boots trend because I figured they wouldn’t fit me. Lo and...
Jesse Tarnoff, the creator of the incredible wedding filmography company Sandbox Love, became something of an email buddy to me after he’d seen a blog post I’d written about his work. He ended up recommending some cameras and lenses I might like when I was in the market for my first DSLR, and he also included this piece of advice:
“A lot of people are struggling with the issue...
Askew.
I’m writing from my cozy bed, dressed in cozy sweatpants and eating pasta with olive oil and parmesan (comfort food). I had to leave work after I couldn’t keep myself from crying at my desk.
I had a panic attack last night, right as I was trying to fall asleep. If you’re not sure what that is, read this Wikipedia page and you’ll get a good idea. I had no idea what was...
Oftentimes the hardest part about running is......
And out I go.
my-intention-is-happiness asked: I'm thinking of signing up for the Seattle's Best 15k... it the one that runs around Lake Washington right?
Seattle at its best!
We did us a bike ride.
My hamstrings are still reeeally tight and I had a little shin pain today. I decided one more day off from running was best.
It was a beautiful evening for a ride and some city-gazing.
This is the trail I always use for my runs. Love, love, love.
I hope to do an easy few miles tomorrow to get back into it!
Oops.
Last night I did LOTS of stretching, foam rolling and “yoga for runners” poses via YouTube. Instead of doing all that stuff post-race, on Sunday I ate, blogged, checked the official results page incessantly, napped and then drank lots of wine with my roommates.
Always wine with the roommates.
I paid the price yesterday with lots of leg soreness/tightness. My hamstrings are still pretty tight,...
Too gross not to share...
I left this fun little tidbit out of my 10K recap yesterday, but I’ve decided you guys should know because it happened, and I lived to tell the tale.
Here it is: Not 30 seconds into the race, a guy in front of me blew a massive snot rocket and I ran directly into the residual mist.
Funnily enough, I recognized that this was an extremely disgusting thing to experience, yet was hardly phased...
"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's...
It’s a funny thing that a 6.2-mile race has left me feeling like I can do anything.
9.3. 13.1. 26.2. Bring it.
This is why I love running.
Official results!
Chip time: 56:35
Pace: 9:08
9th in my division
79th of 313 females
258th of 594 overall
5th of 15 racers age 23
Just woke up from an epic nap. I am THRILLED!!!
Bellevue 10K recap
This was my favorite race ever! I really, really like the 10K distance because I don’t feel like I have to push so hard the whole time, which is how I feel while running a 5K.
I felt good the entire race. The running came easily. The running was fun. I never walked (except very briefly through two water stations). And I smashed my [secret] time goal of 60 minutes with a huge smile on my...
Unofficial time
56:45!!!
I was aiming for sub-1 hour!!! AMAZING RACE. Recap with Aaron’s epic photos to come!
The element of surprise.
Aaron and I are heading to my mom’s house tonight for his birthday dinner, which is birthday celebration #3, if you’re keeping track.
1. Dinner with his family 2. Dinner with just the two of us 3. Dinner with my family
But wait, there’s more! Birthday celebration #4 is about two weeks away. Here’s the backstory…
