The other blog
I’ve been neglecting my other blog in favor of Tumblr, with its shiny, constantly changing dashboard, but tonight I posted on it… and it was stuff about running.
I actually went back through that blog and found the first time I mentioned Ben and embedded his 120-pound weight loss video. In that post, I wrote about how, in a weird way, he inspired me to buy a DSLR camera and start...
"Very nice!!!"
WE DID IT! Day 1 of American Cancer Society fundraising went fabulously, and I’ll put together a video of Do Life: Seattle outtakes this weekend! It’ll be up on Tumblr by Monday, April 4, for your enjoyment.
We raised a total of $111 today — MORE than my goal! Thank you so much to Aaron Pass, Ben Davis, Becks, Rob, ”An admiring tumblr follower” and “Some...
melissaruns262 asked: Hi Dev,
I'm so excited to see another tumblr-er doing determination. I really want to do it too but I'm nervous about the fundraising commitment. I'm a huge supporter of the American Cancer Society so I might suck up the fear and do it for one of my half marathons. We'll see. Just wanted to say awesome job for signing up! Good luck fundraising and...

Let's make a deal!
To keep my first day of fundraising for the American Cancer Society going strong ($41 raised so far!), here’s what I propose…
I have extra footage of the Do Life: Seattle meetup that didn’t make it into this video. Some of the clips are pretty funny — “outtakes,” if you will — and include fun moments starring Ben, Pa and other Do Lifers.
I’d like...
jimicowan asked: Hey Devon. I just saw your tumblr post and decided to donate. I'll have to eat bologna sandwiches for the rest of April but it's worth it. That's a lie actually, and I don't think that would be punishment anyways ;) I follow your blog and like what you post... I love running and anything Seattle, keeps me motivated! It makes me want to be there though. I don't request...
Support!
I just got my first notification that someone donated to my half marathon fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society, and of course it was Aaron! Still, I’m so excited to have my first donor : )
Will you be next?? Tumblr challenges, physical or otherwise, in exchange for donations (any amount!) are welcome in my ASK box!

Devon needs everyone’s support to fulfill...

Click here to check out the Do Life: Seattle photos that Aaron and I took at Saturday’s meetup!
Feel free to take ‘em, use ‘em and throw some links and outrageous compliments to Aaron Pass and yours truly.
Seriously, it was great meeting all of you guys there. Enjoy the photos!

Team IntimiDation... I mean DetermiNation!!
I’ve officially signed up to run and raise money with the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation team for the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon this June! I’m excited to train with a group and a knowledgeable coach, as well as contribute to a great cause.
The team has officially been training since early February, but I’m jumping into my first team run this...
dailynightly asked: Heya Devon! it was great to meet you at the Do Life 5k and I wanted to say how awesome the video was (even if I am the queen of awkwardness, haha). Out of curiosity would it be possible to get copies of some of your photos from the event? (not to post anywhere, just to have :) Looking forward to maybe running/racing sometime with you in the future!
Here it is! The Do Life: Seattle video. Filming by the extremely talented Aaron Pass. Editing by me. Song by Band of Horses (“The Great Salt Lake”). Awesomeness by everyone who participated in the meetup.
The Do Lifers in order of speaking appearance:

YOU GUYS.
First of all, “Oh heyyyyy!” to my new followers! You guys rock. I will be rewarding you VERY soon with an awesome video about the Do Life: Seattle meetup.
I spent all morning editing it and it’s currently uploading to the Internets. Since it’s HD, it takes a while. I’ll post it on Tumblr ASAP.
I don’t wanna toot my own horn about how epic this video is, but I...

I got me a Davis sandwich!
Such a fun Do Life meetup this morning. It was a little cold and rainy, but the 30 or so people laughing, running and swapping stories more than made up for the weather.
Aaron and I got some awesome photos and video clips! I’m gonna go ahead and say the Do Life video we’re gonna put together will. be. sick.
It's raining in Seattle.
We got downtown early for the Do Life meetup and have sought shelter in Starbucks. Obvs.
Let's go!
YESSSS! I’ve convinced Aaron to do Jillian Michaels’ 40-minute No More Trouble Zones DVD with me. He’s on his way over and has no idea what he’s in for.
Time to get rid of the muffin top, saddle bags and arm jiggle!
Wait a sec… he doesn’t have any of that. Jerk.
Oh well, it’ll be a good workout anyway!
A running list
1) I ordered a foam roller from Amazon last night. When I have to choose between running outside or running on the treadmill at the gym, the deciding factor lately has been being able to use a foam roller when I go to the gym. I’m hating the treadmill, though. My very own foam roller will release me into the wild!
2) I’ve been having shin pain, which I haven’t had since I first...
Softball season is approaching!! I play on my company team, which is part of Seattle’s RAT (Radio, Advertising and Television) league. Not sure who decided that RAT was the best acronym to go with, but OK…
We play teams from the local TV and radio stations, other ad agencies and even a little-known startup called “Google.” (I’m sure it’ll take off someday.)

No big deal. Just an email from Ben.
I’m gonna make a video of the Seattle Do Life meetup tomorrow to share with all you Tumblr folk! Be there, and come find me. I’ll be the weird girl with the big camera and the cute boy.

Maybe its finally time to buy that I AM MADE OF GUTS shirt you’ve been eying, or a Running Shakespeare to complete your set! While you’re at it, grab one of Mango’s Thin Mint Commemorative mint-green tees!
100% of our profits from all these shirts will be donated to the LLS.
Just ordered my GUTS t-shirt. Planning to rock it for my 10K in April!
Bike ride and TJ's!
Went for a hour-long ride with Aaron as the sun went down in Seatown. It was my first bike ride in nearly three years! We rode on the Burke-Gilman trail, which is nice and flat and paved, so it was good. Definitely a good ride that worked out different muscles in my legs than running does — hence cross-training!
My legs felt tight on my run last night (3 miles, 29:10), so hopefully this ride...

GPOYW
This GPOYW is a two-parter to show that I’m not a freak, since the second photo is kind of freaky.
Part 1: Standing normally.
Part 2: Caught in mid-landing after jumping off that rock for a super-cheesy photo. (Ignore the gross facial expression and red marks on my shoulders from the skydiving harness).
HOLY QUADS. Not exactly ladylike, but they were carved out by miles and miles of...

Bow down, other cities! Few can match the glory of a sunny day in Seattle.
View from my corner office the lunchroom.
Executive decision...
After feeling exhausted yesterday and taking a two-hour nap instead of doing 50 minutes of cross-training, then feeling very nauseous for nearly two hours at work this morning before finally eating some Cheerios and making a triumphant comeback to later stomach my lunch, I’ve decided to skip my planned three-mile run tonight.
That was the world’s longest, most convoluted excuse. I...
Friday night: My roomies and I threw our housewarming party, nearly three months after actually moving in. Three months later, I’m still the weird one.
Fun fact: Aaron picked out that purple top as I hastily shopped for something to wear on Friday afternoon when I realized my roommates were not also planning to wear “just a t-shirt.” Ross, $8.99. He wins!
It’s gorgeous and sunny in Seattle!
Ready to go get 4.5 miles in my stunna shades.

St. Patty's Day run at sunset
My training plan called for 2 miles + strength, but I decided to skip strength since I’ll be cleaning our bathrooms tonight (which’ll take strength!). Midway through my planned two-miler along the Fremont canal, the gorgeous sunset and cool evening air convinced me to make it three. I love, love, love running outside.
Much to the chagrin of TanaDoesLife and myself, the lovely new...

“ALL,

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I forgot to wear green today (oops!), but here’s a shot from St. Patty’s 2009. I didn’t have anything green to wear at the time, but luckily my roommate let me borrow this gem of a t-shirt!
I’ll be running 2 miles tonight and cleaning up the townhouse in preparation for our housewarming party (it’s March… we moved in back in December), but have fun if...
Giveaway WINNERS!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m excited to announce the winner… make that WINNERS… of my blog anniversary giveaway.
If you entered the giveaway, you’re probably gonna wanna check it out… : )
Intervals and the 100 club
I did 8 x 400 speed intervals at the gym and it was pretty rough. Started out with a half-mile jog at 10:10, then did the intervals between 8:45 and 8:20-ish. I had to walk between each one because of a cramp, although I would have liked to have jogged! I was nice and purple-faced and sweaty by the end : ) Some quality time with the foam roller rounded out the night.
I’ve run 95...

GPOYW
GPOYW: “Crossing the finish line of my first 5K” edition.
I ran it in 33:32 and was dying at the end. Not sure how I managed to look so nice and carefree! Probably because of all the adrenaline that instantly got me hooked on racing.
Yes, my t-shirt says, “This Girl Can Party!”
(I’ve shaved 7 minutes and 7 seconds off that time, by the way. Yee-haw!)
How to DESTROY a 10K
Via jog.fm:
“Chris Solinsky, a 5k runner who had never ran a 10k race in his life, and had never even trained for the event, DESTROYS the American Record in the mens 10,000 meters on Saturday, May 1st, 2010.”
6.2 miles. 26:59. The Runner’s World pace calculator wouldn’t even calculate a time under 27:00 for a 10K, but the pace for 27:00 is 4:21/mile.
You must watch...
